Hey, thanks! I got a B.F.A. in Graphic Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design. As for the job position, I’d say it was equal parts good luck and hard work: I applied, I interviewed, and a day later, I was hired.

I went through a whopping five rounds of comps (which I plan to post soon) for this cover. Two and a half months of late night designing later, it is finally completed and approved.

I’m pleased with it—and I still find it unbelievable that I was given the chance to design for Anderson, who I read while I was in high school (this title included, by strange coincidence!).

In stark contrast with the melancholy grays, the bright pops of yellow on this cover instantly caught my eye and led me through a hierarchy of type that breathes perfectly.

Here’s a better look at the cover I designed for The Dark Elite omnibus by Chloe Neill. I can’t wait for people to be able to see it in stores. I requested a touchplate technique on the girl behind the key, so she’s printed in a very faint metallic silver that I think adds a little magic.

Another one of my Young Adult covers debuted this week!

I was really excited to work on this one. Falling Under, the first in the series, has been doing extremely well and there’s talk that this might become a “hot series.”

I faced some major issues with the shadows of her eyes being photographed way too dark and I’m still not 100% happy with the retouching done on the girl’s face, but it was fun to work on (even if it kept me at the office until long after the lights get turned off…).

I can’t say enough how much I adore this cover. The typographical treatments are a perfect match, and the attention to detail in adding silver foil to the individual stars is beyond fantastic. If you haven’t seen it in person, make it a point to do so the next time you hit the bookstore.

Chloe Neill revealed this on her website and Goodreads this week, which allows me to share it here legally—and I couldn’t be more jazzed! I just finalized the design of this cover on Wednesday, so it was a shock to see it hit the internet so quickly. The Dark Elite is a young-adult (my preferred genre, for those that don’t know) series that I inherited from cover designer Eileen Carey. I’m stellar jazzed that Chloe and her editor were so pleased with this cover; I hope the fans love it just as much.
